This sculpture struck a chord in me; I believe it to be my favorite out of all of the sculptures we have seen to date. The work itself is boxed within this cubicle like death trap made up of Styrofoam and shoddily attached sheets of plywood. It is the sort of death trap that most people find themselves living inside of for eight hours a day at their crummy nine to five office job. Like most crappy cubicles it is what lies within that is magical and easily overlooked. Inside of the box is a beautiful ice sculpture that gently melts away allowing for water droplets fall onto a drum like base that fills the room with the resonant sound of natural music. This piece worked as a reminder for me to: Number 1) NEVER WORK IN A CUBICLE. Number 2) Make an effort to create art and enjoy natural wonder regardless of where I am or whom I happen to be with.
We are a group of Art students from the University of California Riverside who are attending a series of Art Galleries in several parts of Southern California. We have decided to use Blogger.com to post the pictures we take, and record our thoughts and opinions about the work we visit. You can find our critiques and thoughts on the work in the "comments" field, which appears below the pictures of the art.
