The moment I stepped into this gallery, I can feel the surrounding very peaceful. The light was just right, not too bright, not too dim. The artist used gray as it's base in the works to give it a vague, foggy, slow feeling. Everything is calm, just like a therapy, no sudden movement and everything is at slow pace. I believe the theme fitted the artworks perfectly, and I recommend everyone to go take a look and experience the art therapy.
Brad Spence's airbrush technique made his images almost difficult to look at from up close. I can understand how the blured images and blue-gray tones used may contribute to a theraputic aura, although I personally found them rather dull. The aesthetic used is interseting, but the subject matter within each painting was not the most stimulating. I left the exhibit feeling neither good nor bad about what I had just seen; I left feeling nothing.
We are a group of Art students from the University of California Riverside who are attending a series of Art Galleries in several parts of Southern California. We have decided to use Blogger.com to post the pictures we take, and record our thoughts and opinions about the work we visit. You can find our critiques and thoughts on the work in the "comments" field, which appears below the pictures of the art.
