I was pretty disappointed with MC Gallery near La Cienega mainly because there wasn't much to see. There was a large mattress, with a circle cut out in the center so people could lay on the mattress face first and watch a television. It's a nice idea, but it wasn't very comfortable. I don't think I would have wanted to lay there for long. I suppose it's supposed to be a communal thing that you do with other people. Everyone can lay together on their stomachs and watch TV! How fun! The room was very empty. There was one other sculpture-like object that looked as if made out of cardboard in the shape of a Jacuzzi. But the cardboard was covered in a coat of something to give it the appearance of fiber-glass. The color was a nude brown. I found the shape to be interesting, but the work and the gallery as a whole seemed unfinished. If that were the case then they shouldn't have let people in.
We are a group of Art students from the University of California Riverside who are attending a series of Art Galleries in several parts of Southern California. We have decided to use Blogger.com to post the pictures we take, and record our thoughts and opinions about the work we visit. You can find our critiques and thoughts on the work in the "comments" field, which appears below the pictures of the art.
